The Government Administration and Election Committee held a public hearing on Friday, March 21st for various bills related to voting rights and access to the ballot box.

The ACLU of Connecticut supports H.B. 7228, An Act Concerning Various Reforms to the Administration of Elections in this State, which would allow for several things including processing the absentee ballots to begin prior to election while the counting of the ballots would occur on day of the election beginning at 8:00 am, providing notification to electors whose absentee ballots have been marked "rejected" to advise of the opportunity to vote in person, appropriating $1.3 million in funds to the Secretary of the State's Office for early voting purposes, and much more.
