This bill would have required retail businesses to notify patrons when they were capturing or storing shoppers' "biometric identifiers" (records of facial geometry, such as an image of someone's face that a company captures and stores using facial recognition software). Under this bill, a business that used biometric identifiers would have been required to post a conspicuous, legible, visible sign stating: "This establishment uses facial recognition technology to capture and store images of the faces of persons on the premises."
