This new law "bans the box--" eliminates questions about criminal records on initial job applications, giving people who have made mistakes a fair chance at supporting themselves and their families. This bill also bars employers from discriminating against a potential employee because of that person's criminal history. The new law also establishes the Fair Chance Employment Task Force to study issues including, but not limited to, the employment opportunities available to individuals with criminal histories.
