The ACLU of Connecticut is pleased that on May 22, 2009, the court granted a preliminary injunction requiring Quinnipiac University to maintain its women's volleyball team until the case is finally resolved. Judge Underhill ruled that the plaintiffs -- volleyball players and the coach, all of whom are represented by the ACLU through cooperating attorneys -- are likely to prevail in their Title IX case brought to ensure equal athletic participation opportunities for female athletes at Quinnipiac. We are glad that Quinnipiac has announced that it is committed to Title IX compliance and will comply with the court's decision.
